General tips. Tell your home insurer when solar or a battery is installed; cover depends on your policy.

Document

Photograph the array, inverter and battery before and after install.
Keep equipment serial numbers, warranties and the installer's invoices.
Note storm or impact damage from the ground — stay off a damaged roof.

Claim

Notify your insurer as your policy requires. A solar installer can describe equipment and damage; they do not replace your claim or give legal advice.
